Tips for IIT JEE Preparation

Studying in IIT is the biggest dream for the students who aspire to become an engineer. IIT is one of the leading Engineering Colleges in India who produce the best Engineers who are holding top and responsible positions globally. IIT JEE (Joint entrance Examination) is the entrance exam to get into IIT. IIT JEE is one of the toughest Engineering Exams in India. In order to get through IIT JEE, a student needs to have a clear idea about the topics and concepts.

Planning

One of the most important components to crack IIT-JEE is a perfect plan. Any competitive examination needs a perfect plan to crack the exam. To begin the preparations for any competitive exam, it is never too early. A student can start the preparation as early as possible, in class 10th or even before that if he/she is too focused. A student can even start preparing even after class 12th putting in hard work on the preparation .

Clear your basic concepts

An IIT Aspirant has to make sure that the concepts are understood clear whichever stage it may be (either class 10th or above). There are 3 sections in IIT JEE, namely physics, chemistry, mathematics. The syllabus is mostly from the class 11th and 12th syllabus. The basic concepts in each of this subject in class 11th and 12th should be made clear which will be helpful when it comes to preparing .

If you have just cleared you 12th board exam:

  • · Clear your class 11th & 12th theory & concepts:

The class 11th and 12th syllabus plays a major role in IIT JEE syllabus, therefore you first have to revise and clear your theory and concepts which you have studied in class 11th and 12th. syllabus has to be completed in one-month time as you have already completed your class 12th board exams. Follow the NCERT books and try solving all the questions contained in them while revising the theory.

Make sure that you make note of your weakness and strong points. Now give importance to the weak points in each subject more when compared to your strong ones. You can also get help from a good personal tutor or your friends who are preparing .

  • Problem Solving:

After you are through with class 11th & 12th theory & concepts, you should start solving entrance type questions in each subject from some good guide or some other relevant books. Study every topic again in which you have gained knowledge already, but this will not be enough for IIT JEE. So, get your fundamentals clear in them.

To develop problem solving skills, you can follow the same steps given above.

Solve questions cyclically:

To start with, select any chapter and pick up some questions, try to solve them. Then move on to the next chapter and select some questions and work it out. Same way proceed to the next few chapters so that you cover all the chapters in that particular subject. Now again return to the first chapter and start solving the same chapters again. This process of revision helps you remember the concept and the method for a longer time.

Studying like this will help you in revising each chapter periodically. You can make a timetable on your calendar and study accordingly. Also, make sure that you revise every topic of each subject at least once every month.

Model question Papers/Test Series:

Solve model question papers in each subject to further strengthen your chances of clearing the entrance exam. Focus extra on those topics, which you feel are the most difficult for you. For some more practice, you can also join the test series of any good coaching institute.

If followed conscientiously, you will certainly be able to easily crack IIT-JEE and other engineering entrance exams like AIEEE and BITS-Pilani entrance etc. Thoroughly read your textbooks and make your study plan accordingly to your study style and convenience so that you crack IIT JEE easily.
